Michael Hickey is a National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Inflammatory Diseases at Monash University. He received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1996, and undertook postdoctoral training at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. His expertise lies in the analysis of the actions of leukocytes during inflammatory responses. His laboratory uses various forms of advanced in vivo imaging, including multiphoton microscopy, to image a wide range of tissues during the inflammatory response. This approach is used to investigate leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions and other leukocyte behaviours in the inflamed skin, kidney, muscle and brain.
