Jim Manos
University of Sydney, NSW, Australia
Associate Professor Jim Manos is Head of the Bacterial Pathogens research group in the School of Medical Sciences at Sydney University. His research into the bacterial biofilms of several pathogenic bacteria has resulted in a biofilm-disrupting combination therapy that is now being trialed in mice. He has over 40 publications in high quality peer reviewed journals. His prior work involved elucidation of the pathogenic mechanisms utilised by CF-specific strains of P. aeruginosa, through investigations of changes in transcriptomic expression and genomic composition of acute and chronic infection strains of P. aeruginosa. He has been an ASM member since 1990, a committee member of the NSW/ACT branch since 2010, Treasurer of the NSW/ACT Branch -2012-2018 and President of the ASM/ACT Branch 2019-2021.
