Daniel is a Senior Research Officer at QIMRB Berghofer Medical Research Institute. He has more than 11 years’ experience working with viruses in PC3 laboratories, including Japanese encephalitis virus, Chikungunya virus, SARS-CoV-2, West Nile virus, and HIV. His research focusses on establishing mouse models of viral infection and immunopathology (particularly flavivirus encephalitis, alphavirus arthritis, and coronavirus pneumonitis) and exploiting these to investigate molecular mechanisms of infection and disease, and to develop new interventions (antivirals, anti-inflammatories, and vaccines).
